Description

Performs laboratory tests and analysis on patient specimens to provide accurate results that assist healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. Ensures proper specimen handling, accurate testing, quality control, equipment maintenance, documentation, and compliance with laboratory safety and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive, identify, and process patient specimens according to established procedures.

• Perform laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and immunology/serology.

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.

• Conduct quality-control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

• Analyze and interpret laboratory findings and report results accurately and promptly.

• Maintain complete and confidential patient and laboratory records.

• Follow laboratory safety, infection-control, and waste-disposal procedures.

• Assist with inventory management and ensure adequate supplies and reagents are available.

• Participate in quality-assurance programmes, audits, and continuous professional development.

• Follow the policies, procedures, and professional standards of the laboratory and healthcare institution.

• Maintain and demonstrate professional and ethical conduct at all times.

Requirements

1. BSc Medical Technology / Diploma or Certificate for Medical Technician / Medical Technology

2. Exceptional communication skills

3. Excellent organizational skills

4. Able to multi-task

5. Good team player

6. Complete tasks in a timely manner

7. Five CSEC subjects including Maths and English
